injury Rehab

I had a Grade 3 Meniscus “Bucket Handle” tear on my knee that restricted me to dance Salsa, practice Yoga, Run and Jump without causing swollen leg and tremendous amount of pain. I went from wearing heals to snickers/flip flops, skirts to knee straps. A total mental confidence buster.

My Meniscectomy was a 4 hour procedure ONLY but left me bed ridden for 7 days, in crutches for 3 weeks and mobile with straps on for 4 weeks.
After a full 8 weeks recovery, i began my fitness journey with @allister.

Not only we trained the muscle from zero but also on my confidence and fear to push my body weight on injured area.

Today i can walk on heals, dance salsa, sprint on 13 speed and most of all carry heavy weights.

From crutches to 140kgs Leg Presses in less than a year.

This simply would not been possible without his focussed drive for success, challenging training regimes and extensive knowledge in anatomy and rehabilitation.

I have always enjoyed health and fitness but training with Paul took this to a whole new level
From the outset his passion and enthusiasm was evident like many in his his field. But In my opinion what sets Paul apart is his strict Diligence and professionalism to take the time to understand not only your goals but you as a person.
Paul quickly put in place a bespoke plan for both training and nutrition that accounted for my current life commitments but would also achieve results.
This combined with regular 1 on 1 training where Paul pushed me to improve and taught me correct form and execution. He explained all on a level I could understand so I could replicate when working out autonomously allowing me to continually progress.
The results I have achieved are far beyond my expectations and has given me a new found confidence.
Follow the plan. Trust in your trainer. Don’t cheat yourself….You will get results.

I started training with Paul 14 weeks before my wedding. Like all women, I wanted to be the “best version of me” and feel confident in my wedding dress. I was a little hesitant to contact Paul as I thought I knew a fair amount about fitness having spent years working out in the gym and using various fitness apps but I could not have been more wrong!
We first focused on fat loss. I went from 14.2% fat to 8.5%. Although I lost fat I kept my figure, in particular my bum!
What I love about Paul is that he really took the time to understand my lifestyle and goals before developing my nutrition and training plans. This has made it so easy to stick to. Although I hate him at the time I love how much he pushes me, I’ve never worked so hard in the gym. Before I met Paul I could do about 3 push ups, now I can do 30! Paul has so much knowledge, I’ve learnt so much from him not just technique and execution in the gym but also from a nutrition and diet perspective.
I can’t recommend Paul enough, he puts so much time and effort into his training plans. As cheesy as it sounds, I really did feel the best version of me on my wedding day.

Pre & Post Natal

I have been training with Paul for just under 5 years now. I first met him 3 months after I had delivered my first baby. He first focused on strengthening my core and all round strength work, that really helped me getting back in shape. Two years later I was pregnant with my second baby. I trained with him during the whole pregnancy up until one day before delivering, believe it or not! We have done a lot of core work that kept me in shape, and prevented me from having back pains or any other common pregnancy discomforts. I also felt stronger and more in tune with my body for the natural delivery.
6 weeks after delivery I was back in the gym, and it was amazing how quick I got back to my pre pregnancy shape. In fact, only 6 months after my second baby I was the fittest and best shape I have ever been. (Mind you I have a full time office job, so I dont spend my whole day in the gym).
Paul is not just a PT, he also writes my diet, keeps track of my body mass and gives advices on best cardio exercises to help me keeping fit.
I love him most times, apart from during the sessions when I hate him 🙂 Thanks Paul!

Prior to Paul taking over my training and nutrition regime, if I wanted to drop some wight before a holiday, I would train twice a day and sometimes even go as far as to do a 7 day juice diet. The first thing that Paul said to me was ‘I want you to eat a lot more and train less.’ As confused as I was he educated me and with some adjustments I am now back to thoroughly enjoying my food and training. Even with regular ‘days off’ my healthy eating I constantly stay in a shape I am very happy happy with, never feeling hungry. In the last 18 months I have dropped body fat from 18% to 12% and gained 8 kg of muscle. I am more than happy with Pauls approach to training and the results I have experienced. He is obviously at the very top of his game and his thirst for knowledge and passion to educate others is motivating in itself. I highly recommend his service to anyone who’s serious about getting to the best version of themselves!

Sports Specific Performance (Ironman)

I went to Paul initially to increase my strength and fitness to help with various sports such as surfing, wake boarding, snowboarding and gymnastics. We have been working together for 2.5 years now and in that time he has helped me so much with my nutrition, healthy lifestyle, strength and conditioning to the point where i have now competed in 4 ironman 70.3 competitions and at the age of 40 i am in the best shape of my life.

I think the difference i see when training with Allister is that he believes so much in what i can achieve. That belief is what sets him apart fro other personal trainers, the fact that he takes my success personally and to heart. As everyone does I came to Dubai and gained the Dubai stone (or 2). So I started with Paul over 3 years ago to shift it, as I’m not the most disciplined dieter Paul really helped me find a middle ground so I can get fit and healthy while still enjoying life. Training is hard but rewarding and I am now in the best shape I have been for years. Paul’s Nutritional and fitness knowledge is second to none and really does push you to the limits. Oliver always exercised regularly but struggled with weight loss, he came to Allister for advice. He soon realised the training methods he was using were not beneficial for his goal, and through the week he would eat in a calorie deficit but then destroy his progress by binging on a weekend like most people do! We adapted his nutrition to allow for more ‘treat’ meals but maintaining a calorie deficit without going too low that he couldn’t stick to it!

As you can see Kay was already in great shape, but she was still self conscious about her stomach. Over a 6 week period she managed to lose a significant amount of body fat and tone up her abs which she was clearly very happy with!
